16/5/2018

Safe egress along paths of travel to exits in a building especially in an emergency is fundamental for all buildings.

Paths of travel to exits are always nominated as an essential safety measure.

Building Code of Australia
Part of the Building Code of Australia D1 Provisions for Escape, clause D1.6 Dimensions of exits and paths of travel to exits, sets out the criteria.

The BCA and Essential Safety Measures regulations require that paths of travel to exits must:
  • Have the unobstructed height as nominated
  • Have the unobstructed width as nominated
  • Not have any storage located in its path

To ensure compliance with this important safety measure, please keep your personal articles INSIDE your unit, to ensure an unobstructed path of exit for yourself and your neighbours.

In the case of a power outage, the battery back-up will last up to approximately five hours. If your back-up battery is flat, faulty or missing, your phone and internet services will not work. You will know when it's time to replace the battery when the "Replace Battery" light appears on the nbn™ connection box. You will also hear an alarm sound - one beep every 15 minutes indicates the battery needs replacing, and four beeps every minute indicates less than half of the battery charge is remaining.
The NBN battery is solely the use within the lot and is therefore not common property.
A new battery can be procured from Jaycar audio for a small fee.
For instructions on how to replace the battery please see the link below.

Window safety devices

8/5/2018

To prevent children falling from windows, all strata buildings in NSW must be fitted with devices that enable the maximum window openings to be less than 12.5cm.

Residents will still be able to open their windows. However, they will have the security of knowing that when the devices are engaged, children will be protected. The installation will take no longer than 15 minutes.

Please call RD Locksmiths on 0422 848 929 to arrange a time.

This is a free service*
